1. You get your bike out to start the ride and it has a staple in the back tire.
2. You hit a bump and lose your yellow thingy that goes in your aero bottle and don't realize it until you are up the hill. You decide to get it on the way back, never find it and end up spilling liquids all over yourself at every bump. Sticky liquids!
3. Your favorite Ruby sunglasses you have had for years break in the middle of the ride and you end up riding without one of the side ear pieces and have sticky stuff from all the liquids on the remaining sunglasses.
4. You lose your Garmin at yet another bump, don't realize it for 3 miles, then have to ride uphill to go get it. You find it in the road and luckily it has not been run over.
5. You don't take enough nutrition and end up bonking on the brick/run after the bike.
6. It is 95 degrees and you wish you were in the 55 degree water at IMCDA again!
So that was my ride today. Not my best but did 57 miles and a wimpy 1 mile walk/run afterwards. Scarfed down a Dion's sandwich at record pace afterwards. Whew! Made it...

Yikes! Not fun.
I thought my ride was tanked today when my rear wheel jammed in the frame and wouldn't turn. Then it did it again after I fixed it. But then I got it right an the rest of the ride was fine - unlike your ride. Sounds rough!
Glad your garmin is okay! Jeff's just came apart on his bike and fell off in 2 pieces...he was able to super glue it back together and it works again...what the heck??
Way to get that ride done! I love me some Dion's sandwiches :b
Ah, the gatorade shower. I have had the gatorade shower. I have had my bike computer stop working because of gatorade being splashed all over it. Ick. Trust me, get a bath scrubby, put it in your aeoro drink and loop the loop around the straw. You'll never lose it again and it works better than the yellow thing. This is what I used in my aero bottle at IM CDA, by the way, and no gatorade splashed on me.
What does not kill us will make us stronger!! LOL. I can relate to the whole yellow thing problem. I think They should ell them by the case.
I put a poofy bath thing in my bottle (before I took the aerobars off) and it never came out. And you can get whatever color pleases you...not just yellow!!
If you don't laugh, you'll cry right?
I'm just glad you found the garmin! That would be an expensive loss.
Aunt Debi, you are amazing! I don't know what those things are... But, I don't even DRIVE 57 miles in a day!! hahaha I love you and glad you made it home safe!!
Tania
But you pushed through and finished! That's what sets you apart!
Wow, I'm pretty sure I would have bailed and called someone to come get me if I'd had a ride like that. You are such a stud persevering through it all!! Dion's sandwiches? I've never heard of them. Is it local or am I just hopelessly out of the loop (again)?
the fact that you are actually back on your bike already has me in awe. :-)
i did ride 12 miles with big j yesterday though, on his inaugural ride! he got a bike finally! maybe one day we can be like you and your hubby!!
it's times like these when all you can do is laugh because who would've thunk so much shite could happen in one ride?! haha.
Hey I saw the yellow thing on the road but didn't realize it was yours! At least you did the ride, I might have just packed it in :(
