Just one of my many adventures in Oregon..

I went on an ATV. I spent much of my time either in the parking lot, or stuck in the sand, but it was fun.

This is Lane, who trusted Grandma to take her out on this thing..

She lives to tell about it..

If you are bored and want a laugh, we made some new members of our family come up with a skit after we gave them some items that they had to use and 30 minutes to put it together. They did quite well actually:

Grants Pass, Oregon

We spent the day yesterday rafting the Rogue River with 13 of our family members. There are 23 adults/teenagers total here and 2 little ones. This is Grandpa and Lane hanging out in the hotel watching cartoons:

Present in this reunion: family consisting of 4 sisters, 4 brother in laws, 13 next generation kids and 2 third generation represented here. We come from Tennessee, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon and New Mexico. We have family reunions every two years, alternating places with each sister.

Our oldest sister, Sara, who is no longer with us, has kids in Texas and Colorado, and we have a brother in law in ABQ, who couldn't make it this time. We miss them!
:(

H & I ventured our for a 30 min. jog yesterday. I felt pretty good! Legs and body still a bit fatigues. We are planning a bike ride this afternoon..

More pics up the coast..

We traveled about halfway up the coast of Oregon yesterday. The first thing we did is stop and pick blueberries, reliving one of H's childhood memories-not sure where in Brooklyn those blueberries were but he was happy yesterday

Then off to tour some cool places on the beach. These gardens were amoung what we saw:

As you can see by our jackets, the weather is pretty cold here in July on the OR coast. The wind is blowing and temps in the 50s.

This is Hartley by a funky tree root at a State Park near Coos bay on the Coast.

We are now sipping our coffee at the Hampton Inn in Eugene, Oregon. Will be picking up our daughter and granddaughter this afternoon and meeting other kids later tonite. The reunion starts tomorrow in Grants Pass Oregon. There will be 20 adults and 2 little ones.
Let the party begin!

Travel diaries begin..

Here we are on our one venture out of our room:

No more race reports for awhile. H & I will start officially training for IMAZ on Monday, Aug. 4th but until then, we are in vacation mode.
We traveled through some pretty thick smoke in northern CA from the fires on Monday. That was freaky. Compared to the last hotel, we are in the Ritz Carlton in Brookings, OR. It is just north of the CA border, on the ocean and we have been doing NOTHING for 2 days. We were going to spend one nite here and ended up here for 2. This place is a motel but basically like a small apartment. A bedroom, kitchen, is new, cheap and has a friggin" bathtub! My needs are getting less as I get older. No longer do I expect the luxury places (well sometimes I do) but the important things are-can I get my Oatmeal and coffee in the morning? And here we can. Plus all the free DVDs we can borrow so we have watched 3 DVDs, walked on the beach once. Ate at a good restaurant and a bad one and have just been well, slugs..
